its funny that of all the images of all the tea ware, i have the fewest of the most essential: the gaiwan or lidded bowl. it makes sense that after the simple “leaves in a bowl” origin of tea, folks decided that they wanted to add a cover. this deceptively simple addition revolutionized tea drinking because it adds the element of control by way of being able to adjust brewing strength. lid on keeps the heat in whether for steeping or just cuddling your cup a liittttttle bit longer.
